Senior Forced Labor and International Trade Specialist: Position Description

Position Summary
The Senior Forced Labor and International Trade Specialist leads the organization's efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate forced labor risk across international supply chains, and ensures compliance with Forced Labor Import Prohibitions. This role serves as one of a cadre of subject-matter experts on forced labor enforcement regimes — including the U.S. Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), Section 307 of the Tariff Act of 1930, the EU Forced Labour Regulation (EUFLR), and comparable regimes in other jurisdictions. Please note- this position is contingent on receipt of grant funding.
Key Responsibilities
Forced Labor Risk Management and Trade Compliance
- Build the capacity of government ministries in countries that seek to implement Forced Labor Import Prohibitions (FLIP) with designing and operationalizing a FLIP.
- Monitor and interpret enforcement actions, Withhold Release Orders (WROs), entity lists, and import bans issued by CBP, the EU, and other competent authorities
- Contribute to supply chain mapping and traceability initiatives to identify high-risk sourcing regions, commodities, and suppliers
- Represent the organization in engagement with regulators, industry coalitions, NGOs, and multilateral bodies (e.g., responsible sourcing partnerships, civil society working groups) on forced labor and trafficking-related initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated working knowledge of forced labor enforcement regimes, including UFLPA, Section 307, and the EU Forced Labour Regulation.
- Familiarity with ILO forced labor indicators and OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct
- Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Law, Political Science, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in international trade compliance, supply chain risk, human rights due diligence, or a closely related regulatory field
- Familiarity with customs and trade compliance fundamentals
- Strong analytical and written communication skills, including experience preparing regulatory submissions or private sector-facing risk assessments
- Experience engaging with government agencies, multilateral organizations, or civil society partners on trafficking, labor rights, or trade enforcement matters
